Parents elected our 2026–27 officers
On September 4, 2026, the officers of The Anchored School PTO were elected for the 2026–2027 school year.
| Office | Name |
|---|---|
| President | Boshra Kargar |
| Vice President | Tishira Hills |
| Treasurer | Stephanie Dobson |
| Secretary | Deborah Painter |
Every one of them is a parent volunteer. Nobody on this board is paid, and under our bylaws nobody may personally benefit from PTO activity.
What each office actually does
These are not honorary titles. Under our bylaws each office carries specific duties, and the split exists so that no one person controls both the money and the record of it:
- President. Authorized signatory and the PTO's contact of record with the IRS, the state, funders, and vendors. Runs the meetings and carries the correspondence.
- Vice President. Programs, events, and membership — the working end of most of what families actually see during a school year.
- Treasurer. Financial and accounting control, and an authorized signatory. Receipts, restricted-fund tracking, and the books that our annual IRS filing will be built from.
- Secretary. Custodian of records and backup signatory. Minutes, governing documents, and the paper trail behind every decision.
Two signatories, dual approval, and a separate custodian of records is a deliberately boring structure. Boring is the point. A first-year charity asking people for money has to be able to show exactly who authorized what.
How this board actually operates
Governance is easy to claim and harder to run. Ours is written into the bylaws adopted July 10, 2026:
- The board meets monthly and keeps written minutes.
- Financial transactions require dual approval. No one approves their own disbursement.
- Cash collected at an event is counted by two people and documented before deposit.
- Conflict-of-interest and no-personal-benefit provisions apply to every member. A member whose business is a candidate vendor discloses it and steps out of the decision.
- Events, vendors, and fundraising in the PTO's name all require authorization rather than individual initiative.
- The bylaws themselves are reviewed annually.
An amendment covering officer and governance provisions was drafted in September 2026 and is before the board. We will report the outcome here rather than quietly changing a page.
If you want to know what was decided
Ask. Minutes are kept for exactly this reason. Write to info@anchoredschoolpto.org, or read the full picture of our controls and documents on the accountability page.
There is room for more people
Officers are four of the people who make this work; committees are the rest. Fundraising, events, communications, and volunteer coordination all need families who want a steady role and a real say in where the money goes. Tell us where you'd fit.
