Accountability
Where the money goes, and who is watching it.
We are a new organization asking people for money. That means the burden is on us to be legible — about what we are, how we are governed, and what happens to a gift after it arrives.

Any of these reaches a real person. If you are verifying us for a grant, a matching-gift portal, or a vendor account, call or write and we will send whatever documentation you need — see our contact page.
How we handle money
Our bylaws, adopted July 10, 2026 and reviewed annually, put specific controls in place. They are not decorative; they are how a volunteer organization stays trustworthy.
- Dual approval on financial transactions. No single person can move money on their own, and nobody approves their own disbursement.
- Two-person cash handling. Event collections are counted by two people and documented before deposit, with both confirming the amount.
- Conflict of interest and no personal benefit. No member of the PTO may profit from PTO activity. Where a member or their business is a candidate vendor, they disclose and step out of the decision.
- Vendor and event approval. Events and vendors are reviewed through a documented process rather than arranged individually.
- Fundraising authorization. Nobody may raise money in the PTO's or the school's name without authorization.
- Monthly meetings with written minutes. Decisions are recorded.
- Annual bylaws review. The governing documents are revisited every year rather than filed and forgotten.
Restricted gifts stay restricted
If you give to the greenhouse, it buys greenhouse. Money raised or granted for a stated purpose is tracked separately and spent against that purpose. If a project becomes impossible, we contact the people who funded it before doing anything else with their money.
The line between the PTO and the school
The Anchored School PTO is a separate legal entity from The Anchored School. PTO funds are not spent on school operating expenses — not payroll, rent, utilities, debt, or improvements to a building the school leases. PTO funds are not used to advertise enrollment. Equipment we buy is owned by the PTO as personal property and stays with the learners.
Tuition and school fees are payments for services. They are not charitable contributions and they are not tax-deductible. Gifts to the PTO are.
Financial transparency
The Anchored School PTO was formed July 7, 2026 and is currently in its first fiscal year, ending June 30, 2027. Because no fiscal year has yet closed, the PTO does not yet have a Form 990, audited financial statements, or prior-year financial results. Available organizational and financial documentation can be provided upon request.
Our first annual filing to the IRS is due November 15, 2027, and IRS filings are public once made. Funders who ask for a 990 or audited financials in the meantime receive our determination letter, bylaws, and board list, along with a plain explanation of our formation date.
Documents we can send you
Donors, sponsors, and funders regularly need paperwork for their own records. We keep these ready and can usually send them the day you ask.
- IRS determination letter recognizing 501(c)(3) status
- IRS EIN confirmation notice
- Texas Secretary of State certificate of filing
- Texas Comptroller exemption verification letter
- Bylaws, and the officer list
- Texas sales and use tax exemption certificate, Form 01-339, for vendors
If your organization needs a document that is not listed here — a W-9, a vendor form, a verification signature — write to us and we will tell you what we can provide and how quickly.
Photographs and children
No child's image, name, or work appears on this site, in our materials, or in a report to a funder without documented parental consent. We ask the school first and the family second, every time.
